In 1990, two women founded Angels for Animals. From
humble beginnings in a deserted chicken coop, they
worked tirelessly to meet the growing needs of animals
in our community. In 2000, ground was broken, a
beautiful new facility was built...and continues to
grow.
From 2002 through 2008, over 7,500 dogs and 23,000 cats
were spayed or neutered through Angels for Animals. This is significant when you consider that over a seven-year period, one female cat could produce up to 420,000 offspring. By offering low-cost SPAYS AND NEUTERS , we are continuing to make an impact on the stray pet population. Additionally, we’re proud of the fact that the Columbiana County Pound, with our help, now mandatorily spays and neuters all dogs adopted from their Pound.
The current work of Angels for Animals involves: EDUCATION. At Angel Place, both children and adults learn about being a responsible pet owner. SHELTER. A 150-animal shelter provides a caring atmosphere for strays until a responsible, lifelong home is found. A surgery suite with two in-house veterinarians and licensed vet technicians provides care to countless animals. It also allows us to do up to 200 spays and neuters every week for stray and abandoned pets.
At ANGEL PLACE , we are proud to offer school programs, group tours and an extensive learning library. We are also home to the LARICCIA ANIMAL CENTER with kennels for adoptable dogs and group rooms for adoptable cats; THE CECIL CREMATORY providing cremation services to pet owners; and the 160-person ANDREWS EDUCATIONAL HALL. Most importantly, we provide an ANIMAL DROP-OFF AREA for cats. Angel Place is an alternative to the animal pound. It’s where we take care of animals when no one else will.
We’re just beginning to meet the needs of animals and pet owners in our area. With your help, we hope to serve the needs of many more animals in our community. Together, we can make a difference. We must continue to stop the senseless killing of animals. Donate today. Join the effort to make our community a better place. Our animal friends need your help.
